- Therapy Lisbon Team

We provide Psychotherapy that offers a professional, supportive relationship. We can help when you’re feeling overwhelmed and your usual ways of coping no longer seem enough. In our sessions, we’ll explore and clarify your challenges together, helping you understand root causes and find meaningful ways forward.

Therapy is a practice of establishing an aware, kind and caring relationship with yourself. We all have self-sabotaging patterns and behaviors that include thought patterns, beliefs, emotional defenses, coping mechanisms, and attachment problems.

Together, we’ll work on challenging these patterns and strengthening your will to change so that you can cultivate lasting well-being – for yourself as well as your relationships.

Piotr Szmyt

My name is Piotr Szmyt. I am a psychotherapist (iedta.net) and interpersonal trainer.

My approach in psychotherapy combines a psychodynamic perspective with a more body-focused intense short dynamic therapy (ISTDP).

In therapy, I value both empathy and directness. Sometimes what helps in the therapeutic process are warmth and acceptance and other times confrontation and clear perspective.

You can get to know my approach to the therapeutic relationship in the first consultation session.

Therapy can support a wide range of concerns:

The goal of therapy is to help you connect more fully with yourself, strengthen your emotional resilience, and move toward a life that feels more meaningful and aligned with who you are.

  • Depression & Anxiety
  • Trauma therapy
  • Difficulties in establishing a relationship or maintaining one.
  • Difficulty navigating intense emotions (anger management, sadness, grief)
  • Lack of sense of satisfaction with one’s life or work, existential crisis
  • Addictions
  • Sexual problems
  • Difficulties related to relocating: sense of isolation, loneliness, cultural shock.

Life is not the way it's supposed to be, it's the way it is. The way you cope with that is what makes the difference.
